Bone-jarring and chest-crushing; if death had a soundtrack, "The Dagger and the Chalice" would be it. Hailing from Finland, Corpsessed's brand of spine-tingling death metal will not disappoint. Six tracks, 24 minutes, "The Dagger and the Chalice" is pure death metal. No gimmicks, no keyboards, just rotten death metal the way it should be.

There's an absolute wall of death metal density to unpack. Almost every track is an assiduous assault of cosmic horror and there's little to no useless bulk on this album -- it's so compact, so air tight, and so focused on delivering an Alien-inspired listening experience.
There's a lot of reverence for bands of old while still sounding new. Tomb Mold are truly at the top of the heap of a 2019 that was filled with incredible death metal. cvltcorgi888
