Ippocalyptica This is one of the best death metal debut albums that I have ever heard, on par with Blood Incantation’s Starspawn and Venenum’s Trance of Death. What I like most about Masque - and there is a lot to like, from the accomplished musicianship to the very compelling and ever-shifting song arrangements - is the genuinely unsettling atmosphere, which is further bolstered by a robust, if slightly gritty, production job that drives home every note and nuance with great force. Simply outstanding! Favorite track: Masque Of Obsequious Venality.
