Swallowed are on some astral plane type musicianship. They even sound disembodied at times. An amazing death doom album that needs to be in heavy rotation in your collection.
Favorite track: Black Aura.
This album is so unbelievably bonkers that I can't not give it a resounding recommendation to those who have a palate for extreme music. If rabies were to have its own soundtrack, well, this would be it. Complete anarchy.
Favorite track: Arterial Mists of Doom.
This is viciously evil. While listening to this album, I felt like I was dragged through the pits of hell. The bizarre riffs, heart-pounding drum beats, and demonic vocals give the listener one nightmarish ride.
Favorite track: Reverence through Darkness.
Founded in 2007, Swallowed sent shock waves through the underground with a trio of filth-encrusted releases (2007's Putrefaction demo, 2008's Epitaph of Nauseation demo, and a self-titled EP in 2010) and caught the attention of the one and only Fenriz, who intoned: "You can just hear for yourself that these slow and bestial Finns are the bee's knees. Hail hail to the good times!"
"Unholy hell, bleak dirge, tortured riffs, blackened drone and filthy feedback are some of the elements that make up one of the sickest bands to come out of Finland. They go by the name of Swallowed" added Cvlt Nation, while the Sludgelord has been anxiously awaiting the band's return: "This is some super heavy and dark death/doom metal from Finland right here. While these guys did break up for a while, the band is recently re-activated and I'm really looking forward to a full-length from them."
The wait is nearly over now - you have been warned!
Why do people like this music? Because they hate how it carries them away? How it transfers sound into inner peace? How it is right on, as a combination of all right sounds and tempo; like a violent peace that it is?
I just don’t know. FakeFur777
Whereas I think most of NA's projects stay at the levels of cults and sacrifice, this album attempts to get at the monstrosity they sacrifice to... and by god is it sublime. Consummation sounds so deliciously evil in particular. The production and atmosphere on this album are impeccable. Easily my favorite Black Metal record ever. You. Need. This. Bennick
