For the first time in their brief but impressive career, Phobocosm have fully emerged from the shadows of their strongest influences to create a fully realised and compelling vision of cavernous death metal. Yes, those fingerprints remain, but you can feel that this is Phobocosm first and foremost, and I enjoyed Foreordained way more than Incantation’s latest and a bit more than Immolation’s last. This sounds more vital. Truly, this is the sound of a black hole consuming all light. Lovely!
