StiffUpper If you like "caverndeath" in the vein of Immolation and Incantation (Immocantation?) then Deprived is everything you're looking for. And then some. I don't know how I missed this back in 2014 but thank Satan for Bandcamp. Favorite track: 27 Days of Darkness.

Choco Latte Deprived is an appropriate word to describe Phobocosm's sound. It's a dark impenetrable wall filled with a non-stop death metal assault. Further proof that awesome bands come from Montreal. Favorite track: Drowned.

Ippocalyptica Phobocosm is one of my favourite death metal bands. They have this oppressively heavy sound that is not quite the “cavern metal” of Disma, nor is it the “filthy” sound of Incantation. Structurally, they borrow equally from Immolation, Incantation, and Disma, with a nod Ulcerate-esque dissonance, but Deprived is not a derivative album, with Phobocosm demonstrating compelling riff craft and plenty of dynamic range. Instrumental performances are excellent all around, vocals are savage and deep, and the lyrics are actually cool. Oh, and Phobocosm put on quite the live show - I saw them play with Ulcerate and Zhrine, and it was spellbinding. Favorite track: Knives in the Senate House.

Aodhan Bulger Frenetic death metal with a definite dark, dark feel on guitar thrown in with a rejection of the so-called "Abyss Studios" drum sound (i.e., plastic "thwacking", little more than a drum signal). The result is a somewhat muddied bass drum tracking due to the phase cancellation which occurs, but it adds an even creepier element. I have grown to intensely dislike using this word but "Lovecraftian" would fit the mood of the album. Guitar tone is audial sex, in the most perverse way imaginable. Favorite track: Solar Storm.

An outstanding Extreme doom death album, in the best tradition. The funerary atmosphere reminds of Evoken ('Centuries of ooze" bears striking similarities, for my delight).
