Hacavitz impressed me with this release of pure black metal. It's elegantly flowing, hypnotic and drags you in. Guitars and vocals are perfect in sound and execution. Darkness Beyond appears to be quite different from their other releases which tend a lot more towards death metal.
Favorite track: Deadream.
The new album is a musical departure for HACAVITZ. While long players like 2005's Venganza, 2007's Katun, and 2010's Metzli Obscura were grounded in bestial Death/Black Metal, on Darkness Beyond the group has shed it Death Metal influences in favor of superbly crafted Black Metal hymns. Ferocity and grimness permeate what turns out to contain the most memorable material of HACAVITZ's outstanding body of work.

Researched Icelandic bands before being able to visit the country in 2019 and found primarily Misþyrming!!!! They reignited and intensified an existing ( and somewhat on the back burner at the time ) love of heavy music. Even listened on the flight there! I have gotten into a lot of great bands because of them. hellaganj2000

Really late to the Abyssal party. Great to be here now. Maybe partially it's because it was the first one I heard, but I think after listening to all their albums this might be my favorite by them. aelia
