This band is just flat out cool. Death Metal is the main template but Their style makes this and their second album stand out among the masses. Just plain kick ass!!!
Favorite track: Revenant.
There's a lot of craftsmanship and dedication here. It's not trendy or retro or worship of any kind. It's distinctive. Twenty years from now this will be a classic.
Favorite track: Entrenching Presences.
A perfect blend of Schuldiner's equilibrism, the eerie atmosphere or early Morbid Angel and a top notch old school-Sunlight-production without being "trendy retro". Stunningly beautiful death metal.
Favorite track: Rites of Descent.
After letting the dust of their acknowledged 2011 EP settle, Finland's LANTERN have returned to deliver a new, far more epic slab of dark and atmospheric death metal performed in the ancient vein. LANTERN's debut album "Below" is a relentless plunge into the unfathomable darkness these compositions are born of, presented in the band's unique style of carefully crafted yet filthy and morbid metal. Compiling seven strongly distinct macabre tales and covering thirty-eight minutes, "Below" is a definitive statement of a band in top form and demonstrates that death's not dead.
Why do people like this music? Because they hate how it carries them away? How it transfers sound into inner peace? How it is right on, as a combination of all right sounds and tempo; like a violent peace that it is?
I just don’t know. FakeFur777
